Ghorepani Poonhill Trek – 6 Days Brief Insight
Ghorepani Poonhill Trek – 6 Days is perhaps the ultimate short trek in the Himalayas. Suitable for people of all ages, particularly good for families with children. This trek can 5 days in length and still gets into the heart of the Annapurna, which used to be the main pass for Tibetan traders to get to Pokhara from Mustang.
Ghorepani Poonhill trek is considered to be one of the best treks in Nepal. Poon Hill (3,210m) is the ultimate viewing point to observe stunning sunrise & sunset and the panorama of the world’s seventh, eighth & tenth highest Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m), and Mt. Annapurna (8091m) respectively, and Nilgiri, Tukuche, Varaha Shikhar, and Lamjung Himal. Hiking up to Poon Hill to watch the sunrise over these stunning snow-covered mountains is something to be treasured.
The Ghandruk village is a beautiful balance between nature and culture an ethnic Gurung village with rich traditions and Buddhist culture with a panoramic view of the Annapurna range embracing the entire skyline. There are enough accommodation and food services enroot for the ease of the trekkers. This trek also includes hiking through colorful villages and rhododendron forests, with the backdrop of the Annapurna always present.
Even for experienced trekkers, this is a great introduction to the Himalayas, especially if time is short. Accommodation along this established route is very comfortable and the menus are not disappointing. And of course, the mountains never disappoint either in their fully photogenic beauty.

Additional Information
Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is a short and sweet trek at the bottom Himalayan range. The village lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA). Therefore we require a national park permit to visit (ACA). Early-time drinking water was not supplied in this place. Villagers used horses to collect the water in this place. The etymological meaning of Ghodepani means horse to water. That’s why this place was known as Ghodepani. The word Ghodepani converts to Ghorepani.
Furthermore, Ghorepani Poonhill Trek offers a remarkable mountain background along with charming villages. Inhabited particularly by the Gurungs, Poon & Magars. Similarly, a dense rhododendron forest full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys attracts tourists. All set below the Annapurna’s with the charming peak of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) dominating the horizon.
