Lying to the northwest of Kathmandu, the Ganesh Himal Base Camp trek is one of the nearest and most beautiful treks in the Himalayas. Named after the Hindu god Ganesh, the shape of the Ganesh I peak, when seen at a closer distance, looks like the head of the elephant.

The inhabitants of the area are Tamang ethnic people, who live on highlands and follow the pastoral lifestyle. There are numerous temples, monasteries as well as cultural festivals that offer a glimpse and insight into age-old tradition and myths of this community.

Day 1 : Drive from Kathmandu to Samari Bhanjyang (1250m.) via Trishuli Bazaar (540m.)

Day 2 : Trek from Samari Bhanjyang to Katunje Bazaar (765m.)

Day 3 : Trek from Katunje Bazaar to Kintang Phedi (655m.)

Day 4 : Trek from Kintang Phedi to Jharlang (1500m.)

Day 5 : Trek from Jharlang to Chalise (2000m.)

Day 6 : Trek from Chalise to Hindung (4650 m)

Day 7 : Trek from Hindung to Rajgang Kharka (4900 m)

Day 8 : Trek from Rajgang Kharka to Kalo Seto Kunda GHBC (5120 m)

Day 9 : Rest day at the Ganesh Himal Base Camp and Explore

Day 10 : Trek from Ganesh Himal Base Camp to Rajgang Kharka (4900 m)

Day 11 : Trek from Rajgang Kharka to Chalise (2000m.)

Day 12 : Trek from Chalise to Laba village (1750m)

Day 13 : Trek from Laba village to Manyang Bhanjyang (2934m.)

Day 14 : Trek from Manyang Bhanjyang to Majhgaun (2200m.)

Day 15 : Trek from Majhgaun to Budathum (1400 m)

Day 16 : Trek from Budathum to Arughat (500m) then drive to Kathmandu

Additional Information

Ganesh Himal Region Trek is located in Dhading district, to the northwest of Kathmandu. It is a cluster of nearly 20 peaks, flanking west of Manaslu Himal. The highest points of the trek are the Shingle pass (4200m) and the Pasang La pass (4100m).

Similarly, the trail offers spectacular views of Ganesh I (7406m), Langtang (7300m), Annapurna (8091m), and Fishtail (6990m). As well as Manaslu (8163m), Lamjung (6800m), Ganesh II, Ganesh III, Ganesh IV, Boudha Himal, and Hiunchuli.

There are 526 species of plants, 300 species of birds, and many attractive wild animals. One of the major highlights of this trek is the natural exploration of the twin waterfall Ganga Jamuna.

Besides that, the native people of this area are Gurungs, Tamangs, Magars, Newars, and Brahmins. The homestay will provide an experience to observe their lifestyles, cultures, food, and customs.
