Everest Alliance Nepal is organizing the Everest Summiters Summit 2025 in Nepal for the first time in honor of Everest climbers.
The Everest Alliance held a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday and informed that the Everest Summiters Summit will be held on May 27 (Jeshta 13).
The conference to be held at The Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu will feature a special gathering of national and international Everest climbers from various countries around the world, including Nepal, said Everest Alliance Nepal Chairman Sudarshan Nepal.
Chairman Nepal informed that the participation of more than 177 experienced mountaineers from 16 countries has been confirmed so far in the conference to be held with the slogan ‘Honoring Legends, Inspiring the Future’.
‘Since the name of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, is known to everyone around the world, we are going to honor the Everest climbers first. “We will continue to expand its scope in the coming years,” said Chairman Sudarshan Nepal, explaining the reason for honoring the Everest climbers, even though Nepal has many of the world’s highest mountains.
Mountaineers from countries including India, China, America, Pakistan, Austria, Britain, Italy, Norway, Iran, Singapore, Australia, Lebanon, Morocco, and the UAE will participate in the summit. The organizers are also confident that the participants will contribute to the promotion of adventure tourism by sharing their experiences.
The organizers have stated that the aim is to bring together brave individuals who are the embodiment of strength, tireless energy, and indomitable courage in one place.
The main feature of the Everest Summiteers Summit 2025 is to bring together climbers from all over the world who have completed the Everest summit on one platform and present inspiring journey stories, experiences of success, exciting moments, and learning points.
Since this program is special in itself, Everest climbers from outside Nepal will attend the program at their own expense, the organizers have stated.
Similarly, the conference aims to bring together mountaineering experts, policy makers, conservationists, tourism stakeholders, locals in the Himalayan region, including tourism entrepreneurs, Sherpas, trekkers, and communities representing mountain culture on one platform. Through which, there will be an opportunity to discuss international cooperation on promoting sustainable tourism, protecting the Himalayan environment, and uplifting local communities.
Similarly, the organizers have stated that the voice of conservation will be given special priority at the conference. There will be special support from international and national organizations such as ICIMOD, IUCN, WWF, ZSL, and NTNC for environmental balance and a sustainable future of the Himalayan region. There will also be special presentations and panel discussions by them.
At the event, Everest Alliance President Sudarshan Nepal informed that Kanchha Sherpa, the youngest living member who climbed Mount Everest for the first time in 1953 with Sir Edmund Hillary, will be honored with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.
The honor is expected to inspire the new generation of Kanchha Sherpa, who is not only a living history but also a representative of an era.
In addition to the Everest honor ceremony of the conference, seminars will be held on the challenges of climbing, women’s participation, the climate crisis, safe technology, etc.
Similarly, there will be a Himalayan cultural festival, a tableau reflecting paintings and mountain lifestyle, a photo exhibition, and an exhibition of equipment. In addition, special collaboration will be made with the rural municipalities of Namche, Khumbu, Kaski, Myagdi, and the Nepal Handicraft Federation to include local handicrafts and traditional Himalayan materials, said Everest Alliance Nepal COO Aju Sitaula.
With the message that Everest is our pride, identity, and now our responsibility, this conference will draw attention to the growing environmental crisis in the mountains, responsible mountaineering practices, and the need for international cooperation. The conference will be important in establishing Nepal as a safe and sustainable mountaineering destination, promoting environmental conservation, and strengthening international networks.
The Everest Summit 2025 is not just a program, but a confluence of dreams, struggles, courage, and success, and it is believed that the experience shared by Everest climbers will inspire the new generation. It is also expected to be a historic opportunity to establish Nepal more firmly on the world tourism map.
