This festival has been held in Chitwan since 2055 BS. It was stopped for three years due to the Coronavirus epidemic. The festival, which has contributed to the development of Chitwan’s tourism, has been continued since last year. This year, it is being held for the 18th time.
The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has stated that the festival is being organized in collaboration with related and responsible organizations to boost further the tourism business of Sauraha, which is suffering due to the Corona epidemic and economic recession.
The organizers claim that the festival increases the tourist arrival by 25 to 30 percent every year. According to HAN, the activities held at the festival have also highlighted the importance of elephants in addition to tourism development. HAN says that efforts have been made to promote the festival through digital technology by discouraging plastic products.
The festival’s organizers have stated that preserving the future by promoting multi-ethnicity, multilingualism, and art and culture is also a specialty of the festival. 80 elephants, both privately operated and government-owned, will participate in various activities.
