Japanese businessmen have shown interest in investing in Nepal’s tourism sector. The Nepal Tourism Board has interacted with the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal and Japanese businessmen in Kathmandu regarding the promotion of Nepalese tourism in Japan and the introduction of Japanese investment in Nepal’s tourism sector.

The Tourism Board welcomed the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Kikuta Yutaka and a team of Japanese government officials and businessmen in the program organized in Kathmandu.

At the event, Ambassador Yutaka discussed the long-standing relationship between Japan and Nepal and said that the Japanese are ready to invest in Nepal if there is legal ease.

Nepal is beautiful, and Japanese citizens like to visit Nepal. Last year, the meeting and interaction of high officials of various Japanese companies in Nepal helped to understand more about Nepal. Interest in what can be done in the tourism sector has increased during this visit, he said.

Laxman Gautam, Acting Director of the Board, while informing about the latest situation of Nepal’s tourism, said that Nepal-Japan relations have a special dimension with various historical and mutual cooperation programs along with Junko Tabei, the first woman mountain climber in Nepal.

He mentioned that Japan has a good role in promoting Nepal’s foreign tourism. He said that Japanese restaurants are increasing in Nepal and that Nepal’s tourism sector is a suitable area for investment.

16 thousand 463 tourists from Japan visited Nepal in 2023 and 30 thousand 534 came in 2019.
